Easy to get to, hard to leave
The castle sits above the village of Carlazzo, between Lake Como and Lake Lugano and beside the Lago di Piano nature reserve. It’s about an hour from Milan Malpensa by car, or reachable by train via Lugano — close enough for a long weekend, set up for a long stay. There’s free parking on site and a swimmable lake five minutes’ walk away.
Off the clock, the surroundings do the rest: forest trails and waterfalls from the gate, mountain hikes, and day trips to Bellagio, Varenna and the lakes. Stay a week and you’ll work better for it; stay a month and it starts to feel like the way work should always be.
